I began exhibiting Arkansas Postal History at local shows in the 1970s. The first award I received was a first place award at OKPEX in 1975, long before OKPEX was a World Series Show.
I won my first National award, a Vermeil medal, at INDYPEX in 1995, and another Vermeil at VAPEX in Virginia Beach in 1997. I then spent 7 years accumulating better covers and learning how to write and present the material.
My next showing was in 2004 at St. Louis Expo where I was very fortunate to win the Grand Award, with an 8 frame exhibit. Since then the exhibit has continued to grow. I won the Reserve Grand at AIRPEX in Dayton, OH in 2004 and another Reserve Grand at the Southeast Stamp Show in Atlanta in 2005.
I reduced the time frame to Territory through the Civil War and entered 5 frames in the Washington International Exhibit in 2006. The exhibit won a Large Vermeil with a Special Prize (88/100).
In 2007, I once again won the Grand Award, this time back at OKPEX in Oklahoma City.
I have scanned some of these exhibits, and they are here to be viewed. I have been very lucky in having good judging advice over the years, and having a subject to show that is usually new to anyone who sees it. I don't hold my exhibits up as models for anyone else. However, if you would like to see the story of Arkansas Postal History as I have organized it, enjoy the enclosed.
